5 Ways to Beat Holiday Stress

I can already feel it.  The hustle and bustle of the upcoming holiday season.   

 One day at a time, I tell myself.      


The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.  ~Abraham Lincoln.  


I thought maybe we could both use the reminder, as well as a few tips to help beat holiday stress.

1.  Plan Ahead

Having a plan helps keep anxiety at bay.  Set a budget, create lists, shop early,  order Christmas cards….  do whatever you can, when you can, so that you’re not left scrambling at the last minute.  

2.  Take a Time-Out

Remember to take breaks from the holiday hustle.  Enjoy lunch with a friend, soak in the tub at the end of a long day, or have family movie night.   

3.  Enjoy a Simpler Holiday

Sometimes we can get caught up in all of the decorating, cooking, entertaining and crafting…cut out what isn’t necessary and enjoy the true meaning of the season.    

4.  Minimize Commitments

There is always another party to go to, another chance to volunteer, another appointment…  Set limits and find freedom in saying no. 

5.  Stay Healthy

This is a season of over indulgence.  And you can bet that I’ll have some pie and turkey and dressing and all the trimmings….but in between holidays, it’s important to eat right, get enough sleep and maintain your exercise routine. 


Moderation is good for the soul.
