Aged Paper Leaves Tutorial and Templates

Aged Paper and Leaf Template

I love paper crafts….don’t you?

Days are getting shorter, and nights cooler.  That’s a sign of the fall festivities to begin.  The main visions that come to mind when I think of fall….are leaves….in all shapes, sizes and colors.  I know the traditional colors for fall, are the reds, oranges, browns and yellows.  Creams, browns and burlap are my drug of choice for fall.  It’s kind of weird, red is my favorite color…but I love the naturals too.

I have several fall projects coming up (NOPE, I’m not telling you! You’ll have to come back….Oh…and visit my site for all of them! )  I will tell you though…We are having a FALL themed party here on LCI the week of Sept. 16-20….We want y’all to come and join us!!

This tutorial is going to be helpful for many of the wonderful inspiring crafts that you’re going to see come around on the internet over the following months.

All you need to make some of the most authentic aged paper I’ve ever seen, is your paper of choice and instant tea.  That’s right…you heard me…that is ALL!! Oh…and your oven!

Whether it’s these leaves….or just a book page, start by wading up your project….so that the tea can get caught up in the wrinkles…besides, AGE…and WRINKLES…go together…..UNFORTUNATELY….I know a little something about this!

Mix the instant tea really strong…there’s no rules or formulas….just pour some instant tea in a cup and add a little water.

Take a paint brush and paint it generously on the leaves…be liberal.

Then, sprinkle a few crumbles of dry tea for effect.

Cook at 200 degrees in the oven till the paper begins to curl up slightly.  Looks amazing doesn’t it?

Okay….now, out several papers you like together, and make up lots of these leaves in various sizes.  I’ve provided a template for you to use if you don’t want to draw your own…just enlarge and shrink them to get loads of different sizes.  Don’t age them all…but get them cut out….and be ready for my next tutorial! ๐Ÿ˜€

Okay…so I’ll see you back here next week for my first leaf project!  Have those leaves cut out…and some of them aged! ๐Ÿ˜€
Love Y’all!

  1. Tammy, these leaves are absolutely gorgeous! I love how simple they are to make and like you, I love the natural, muted color palette of creams, burlap and brown. That’s what I plan to go with this Fall and your leaves will be the perfect addition! Can’t wait for WhatchmaFallit.
