I‘ve been gradually making the switch to all-natural cleaners. I love that they are inexpensive and easy to make.
With just a few household products, you can make enough all natural cleaners for every cleaning job in your home.
Let’s get started!
Garbage Disposal Deodorizer
~Cut up lemons into small wedges and place in an ice tray.
~Pour vinegar into ice tray and freeze.
~Once frozen, dump ice cubes into a baggie and store in the freezer.
~Pop a cube in the disposal for a quick deodorizer.
Granite Cleaner
~Mix together 1/4 tsp of liquid dish soap ( I use Dawn), 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol, and 2 1/2 cups of water in a spray bottle.
~Mix a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid with 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide.
~Dip a scrub brush in the stain remover and scrub the stained area.
~Blot dry with a clean cloth
Floor Cleaner
~Mix 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar with a gallon of warm water
~Add a few drops of dish liquid or essential oil for a fresh scent
If you’re mopping hardwood floors, be sure to wring the mop until it is just damp.
~Heat 12 oz. of white distilled vinegar in the microwave, then pour it into a squirt bottle
~Add 12 oz. of dawn dish liquid and shake well.
(While this cleaner works, I found the fumes from it to be overwhelming.)
~Mix baking soda with essential oils
~Shake over carpet and let sit
~Vacuum as normal
Mattress Freshener
~ Sprinkle your mattress with a mixture of baking soda and essential oil such as lavender
~Let it sit, then vacuum with dust attachment.
~Wash laundry in 2 cups of vinegar.
~Wash in a second cycle with 2 cups of baking soda.
~Dry as normal.
~Simply set out a bowl of vinegar overnight. It will absorb paint odors, cooking smells, cigarette smoke, etc. from the room while you sleep.
Microwave Cleaner
~Heat water in the microwave til it is boiling. (Add lemon juice for a fresh scent.)
~Let it sit. The steam will loosen dried on food.
~Wipe clean.

LOVE these tips! I’m going to try a couple of them tomorrow. Especially the floor washing mixture. I just bought some essential French Lavender oil. I’ve never been so excited to clean! Thanks for sharing these tips, Sharon. I pinned it!!
I know exactly what you mean about being excited to clean! I really need to buy some essential oils…lavender is on my list.

I do enjoy tips, so many of us have so much experience. I use dawn even as my bath soap and dish soap and cleaning soap. I figure if it is safe enough for oil laden critters , it is good enough for me. I do have an additional thought on the disposal. while ice cubes and lemon wedges may clean the blades and de-odorize..crud gets lodged under the rubber part, and in between its folds. I take a brush with dish detergent and stick it down inside the disposal, Pull up the gasket with the brush, then brush up and down in between those folds. you will be surprised at how much black ick is in there. Gross! and it also smells,
Great tip, Bernice. I’ll add that to my cleaning check list!

Yup! the first time my friends do this…it is …wrinkled up nose, and,” I didn’t know that was in there! All that black sludge!!! I use ice cubes, lemons whatever”. My uncles cleaning lady yesterday said the very thing..about lemons and ice cubes , then I took the brush and pulled up the rubber. eewww she said I am not going to do that, THEY can do it! haha! OH, WELL.
