Copper Patina Bench

Copper Patina Bench

This week, I’ve spent the whole week…cleaning, sorting, painting and organizing. It’s a nightmare for a crafter. I’m feeling very much like a hoarder right now. I’ve gotten so far behind, I can’t even tell you. Why now? Well…I shared last week with my readers on Deja Vue Designs that we quite possibly might be moving sometime next summer or fall. I hate that…but I’m really ready to be back with my hubby…so, my house will go on the market at some point…if I can get my CRAP under control. ๐Ÿ˜€

Do you ever feel like you have to redo something…Just to feel better for the day? To just boost your own heart? I don’t…not very often anyway. This week…I did. I’ve been meaning to redo this little bench, I just couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with it.

Copper Patina Bench

I ran across this kit…and a little bulb went off in my head.

That was gonna be the treatment.  I started by lightly sanding it…and then using the spray paint included in this kit.

Copper Patina Bench

I kinda even liked it like this.

Using the patina paint included…I started to just put it on lightly…

Then…I just decided, nah…just cover it…

Then I took a paper towel…and wiped it down a bit.

In the past, when I have used this kit, I discovered that I really like to add…well, just a bit more….

Copper Patina Bench

Rub and buff.. I like the antique gold…and the aged Spanish copper.

Copper Patina Bench

I try adding it in places that would get rubbed a lot…as it would keep the patina rubbed off.

along the higher spots.

in the grooves…don’t worry about over doing it…you can always rub it off…or go back over it with the patina.

Copper Patina Bench

Okay…let’s be honest, we’re not fooling anyone with this bench.  The wood grain, keeps it from EVER looking like copper.  But, one of the things I like the most about this kit…is the colors…so I didn’t worry about making it look REAL…just the blend of colors I like…in the amounts I like.

Copper Patina Bench

I just adore all these colors together…the brighter gold…the deeper rich cooper, the perfect patina blue.

Copper Patina Bench

I just love it on my counter…with my old chicken feeder…and cow signs.

Copper Patina Bench

It even makes my devil’s claw look good…don’t you agree?

Copper Patina Bench

Do you have something this treatment would look good on?  Have you seen my Patina’d chandelier?  Now…keep in mind…This isn’t really a post…just a project.

  1. Nice job,I too have some of that paint why or how I do not know and hate to throw it out but you have given me hope.
I have some old benches in the garden to breathe new life into.

  5. What a cool paint treatment!
I have to tell you, though, that when I saw the first picture I was envisioning a small bench that you sit on or something. Then I saw the picture of your hand and the paint brush and it was like Gandolf standing inside the tiny Hobbit house! lol It cracked me up! Silly me! Of course, that’s when I realized that your bench was much smaller — hahaha!

Thanks for sharing your project, Tammy! ๐Ÿ™‚
