A while back I had seen some paper spheres that I loved and wanted to try my hand at it. Luckily I was able to find a site that had a silhouette template as well as a printable template where you can cut the shapes out by hand, you can find both templates here.
These spheres were incredibly easy to make. I chose to use the silhouette template. You will need 12 pieces to create each ball. The silhouette template I used came in a small size so all 12 pieces fit to one page. To make the two other size balls, I deleted all but one piece in the template and re-sized it until I could fit 6 on one page for the medium ball and then deleted all except one and re-sized to fit one on each page for the large ball. You could make additional sizes by fitting three or two pieces on one page too.
You can see here the medium size ball template I made in silhouette by deleting all but one piece then resizing that one piece, then copy and pasting the additional 5 pieces.
Once all pieces were printed off you just put them together like a puzzle. The instructions on the page with the templates said to create two sections of 6 pieces each then join those two sections. I found it easier to join together my first 6 pieces then just kept adding an additional piece. I thought it was harder to join the two 6 piece sections together. I used card stock that I had on hand since the computer paper didn’t want to unstick from the silhouette mat easily for me. If you are printing these and hand cutting them I would probably just use computer paper.
You can use these spheres on a table or as ornaments on your tree. You can also make them any color to match your decor! This year is all about hand made ornaments and Christmas decorations for me, so these were a must make! They took no time at all to print off and put together, I think I had all three done in less than an hour that included resizing the template! I hope you will make some of these for yourself this year! You can see different hand made paper ornaments at Dio Home Improvements that I made this year for other ideas on DIY ornaments.
