Fashion 101: A Layered Look for Fall

Fashion 101: A Layered Look for Fall

Hi!  I’m Amy, aka One Artsy Mama, and I’m thrilled to be here at Live Creatively Inspired today making my first appearance as a Fashion and Style contributor!  If you’ve stopped by my little corner of the internet lately, you know that I recently attended BloggyConference with some amazing and talented friends of mine.  In fact, last week this time, I was in Sandusky, Ohio, screaming my head off while we rode the Raptor at Cedar Point!

It was SO much fun, but beforehand I did stress out just a little about what outfits to pack.  I mean, I was going to be making a lot of first impressions with other bloggers and brands, as well as meeting my friends in person for the first time!  But my biggest concern was what to wear on Saturday morning when I was speaking about Building and Engaging Your Community.  I wanted to look stylish and professional; not too dressy, not too casual.

I had recently seen an outfit on Pinterest that I just loved.  The woman in the photo had layered a sequin tank over a denim collared shirt, then layered a blazer on top.  Then she finished off the look with jeans and boots.  Here it is…isn’t it fabulous for Fall?

The wheels in my mind started turning.  I have four sequined tanks: a silver, a teal, and two pink ones, and I have collared shirts in every color of the rainbow.  I started searching for other variations on this look to give me more inspiration.  Here’s what I found:

Sources: Left, Center, Right

The outfit on the left, from Polished and Pink, made me want to use a white button down.  I love the crisp look of it and the contrast with the dark blazer.  From the outfit in the center, I got the idea of wearing a fun statement necklace along with the rest of the look.  And I loved the combo of the leather jacket with the sequins in the outfit on the right.  With all that in mind, I dived into my closet and came out with this:

White collared shirt: NY&Co
Pink sequined tank: NY&Co
Leather jacket: DKNY
Boyfriend Jeans: Old Navy
Bubble Necklace: The Plaid Barn
Painted Bangle: Banglewood Crafts, painted by me
Flats: Target

I loved that I was able to recreate this fun fall look using only things I already owned {yay for saving money and still being fashionable}!  I also enjoyed putting my own spin on it by using a bright color instead of darks or neutrals like my inspiration outfits were.

Here I am, wearing it just before my presentation {along with my cutie pie bear from Honda…which my son has since stolen}.

I got lots of compliments on the outfit, and it made me feel polished and professional but still approachable, which are all good things to be at a Blog Conference, right?

I’m thinking already of about twenty different combinations of shirts, jeans, boots, tanks, and jackets I can recreate this same look with over the next few months.  What about you?  Do you have the makings of this outfit trend in your closet too?

Thanks for letting me share with you today; I’d love for you to stop by One Artsy Mama and visit!  You can find my other fashion posts by heading to the Project Gallery, and I even have an entire post devoted to all the other outfits I wore while at BloggyCon.  Hope to “see” you there soon!

Hugs & Glitter,
