Hi friends, today I’m sharing a simple mirror makeover to show you how much of a difference a coat of paint can make. (Okay, maybe 2 coats of paint.) Usually I like to add a stencil or special paint technique to my pieces to make them memorable, but sometimes the detail is already stunning and all you need is a new paint color.
I bought this mirror at a yard sale last fall – it looks like wood but it’s really a thick plastic. My mother says it’s vintage Home Interiors.
I thought it would look better with some Old White Chalk Paint® and clear wax by Annie Sloan.
Doesn’t it look so much better in white? I love the scrolls and other details!
Here are a few other classic white projects from my friends:
1. Artsy Chicks Rule painted this chair in a mix of two shades of white Chalk Paint®:
2. Petticoat Junktion gave this wicker-looking chest a bright white makeover:
4. This white desk looks so much better after its makeover by Petticoat Junktion.
6. This lantern got a new coastal look from Artsy Chicks Rule with white spray paint.
Are you a fan of white decor?
Remember, even a simple makeover can make a big impact on your decor!

I have been wanting to try chalk paint for along time. Just wondering. How did you apply the wax? With a brush or rag? I never worked with wax before. The mirror is beautiful. I love anything white!!!!!
Hi Carol Jane, I’ve been using Chalk Paint since last summer but I just recently started using the Annie Sloan brush. I used to use a clean cotton rag but I kept having problems with lint- and I didn’t like getting the wax all over my fingers while using the rag. I like the brush much better! I just wrote a review about using the brush last week if you’re interested in reading it: http://girlinthegarage.net/2014/04/nailhead-vanity-makeover-annie-sloan-wax-brush-review
Thank you! Jen
