Rolling Garden Seat

Rolling Garden Seat

Rolling Garden Seat Hi everyone! I’m Jane and I bring you a gardening post here each month. There’s not anything growing in our garden in January,  but I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at seed catalogs and planning our spring garden while indoors during this month. You too? Let me tell you, I’m itching to get back out into the garden and dig in the dirt, but I know that planning a garden is necessary work.

Speaking of work, I’m sharing a recent find that is going to make weeding and harvesting so much easier for me, and I thought you’d be interested in knowing about this! It’s this rolling garden seat that I ran across this weekend. My husband wanted to stop in Harbor Freight Tools since they were having a sale, and I spotted this rolling work seat in there. I have a little work seat that I’ve had for years called ‘Lil Buddy, but it sits too low to the ground to be of much use to me now. This cart sits much higher, rolls easier, and the seat swivels. As soon as I sat on the demonstration one in the store, I knew that I had to have it. The seat is not on sale right now, but I thought the $49 price tag was very reasonable and a kind gentleman offered me a 25% coupon that he wasn’t going to use. SOLD!

Rolling Garden SeatOf course, it comes in a box and you have to put it together (like most everything that you buy nowadays!) So this past Sunday, I decided to put it together myself because I wanted to test to see if a woman could transport it and put it together without any help. The box weighs about 30 pounds so I was able to get it in the house fairly easily.

Rolling Garden SeatThe only tools I needed were a screwdriver and two pairs of pliers, which I will explain in a minute. Rolling Garden SeatAfter reading the instructions several times, I was able to put it together without any help except for one detail. When it came time to tighten the nuts on the axles, I needed someone to hold the other end of the axle with some pliers. (I’m sure there is a way to tighten them by yourself but it is outside my realm of knowledge of tools!)

Rolling Garden SeatA neat feature is the tractor style seat which swivels and is adjustable by using the little lever that you can see in this photo.

Rolling Garden SeatThe plastic tool tray underneath is going to be handy for storing gloves, trowels, etc. as I’m working in the garden.

Rolling Garden SeatSo after I got it put together and after the football game that we were watching was over, we took ‘Lil Green out to the garden for a test drive.

Rolling Garden SeatThe height of the seat is just perfect for weeding our raised beds,  and I can easily scoot around the edges of them.

Rolling Garden SeatI have a feeling that ‘Lil Green is going to become indispensable for many years to come. Bye bye, ‘Lil Buddy!

  1. This looks so much better than my “kneeler mat” that I carry around with me while gardening… and then forget to pick it up when I move on to the next spot! LOL Thanks for the tip, Jane!

  2. That looks so useful. Congratulations on getting it put together yourself. I’m glad to read your review of this. I’m going to be on the lookout for one. I’m afraid the grandchildren will take over to wheel around the yard on! It may become dual purposed at my house. laurie
