Hi there! I’m Jane, and I’m sharing how you can make this easy patriotic painted pot today. You don’t need any painting skills to make this, and you’ll be surprised how quick and easy it is to make it.
To make this project you will need a 6 inch terracotta pot. I used one that I already had.
You will need some blue paint for your pot. You could use any type of craft paint, but I happened to spot this sample of paint on a recent trip to Lowe’s. The color is called Indigo Cloth and it’s the most beautiful shade of blue. Not quite a federal blue but it will blend with any of your other patriotic decorations.
I did have to put two coats of the paint on the terracotta pot for good, even coverage.
Next you will need a star pattern. I cut one that was about 1 1/2 inches in diameter out of some computer paper.
Trace the star pattern with a pencil, spacing out the stars about an inch apart. Connect the stars with bunting by drawing 5 lines from one star to another. Alternate drawing the bunting going up and down.
Here’s a close up so you can see what I mean. Paint the stars white and the bunting red and white.
Told you it was quick and easy, didn’t I? These pots could be used as food servers at a July 4th party, or they would be equally pretty potted up with a white or red flower. So many possibilities!
But I plan to use it to display these small flags on our front porch. I love how the blue contrasts with our red table.
