Positive Affirmations

Positive Affirmations

Positive words can mean a lot!

Do you talk to yourself?

If you don’t, you should!

No, I’m not crazy. . . I just understand the power my words and thoughts can have over my life and my creativity.

Hello, I’m Kerryanne from Shabby Art Boutique and I use positive affirmations.

The unconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a real or imagined idea, so it responds to whatever suggestions you give it. By repeating your positive affirmations you can actually retrain your mind so that it can create a reality that matches your goals.

I repeat my positive affirmations every day. . . sometimes more often. The more times you repeat them, the deeper they will be ingrained into your mind, and the faster they will be put in to practice by your subconscious.

These are some of the ways that I use my positive affirmations:

I say them out loud to myself (but my dogs think I am talking to them);

I write them in my art journal and doodle around them to absorb the positive vibe;

Sometimes I write them down and stick them to my computer screen as a reminder;

Other times I write a note and place it beside my bed so I see it before I go to sleep and when I wake.

To be effective, affirmations need to be written in the first person, be in the present tense, be goal orientated and be written as though they have already been achieved.

Next you need to follow it up with some kind of supportive action. Here’s some of mine as an example “I am willing to create” or “Imagination flows through my art”. . . I say these before I sit down for a session of creative time.

Being a creative person I use them in my artwork all the time.

They make wonderful gifts for friends and family too, so maybe after you’ve given them a try for yourself, you may like to create a project that uses a positive affirmation for someone else.
