Recycle TP Rolls: Fourth Fun In a Box

Recycle TP Rolls: Fourth Fun In a Box

FOurth of July Poppers 2

Happy 5th of July Live Creatively Inspired readers. Hope everyone had a great Fourth. This is Carol from The Answer Is Chocolate sharing a little Fourth fun I put together for my son. Readers of my blog know him as “College Boy” and he goes to school out of state. I have a lot of fun sending him care packages for holidays when he can’t make it home.  He’s doing a Summer program at school so we didn’t see him for the Fourth but that didn’t mean I couldn’t send him a few treats including these little “firecrackers” made from something all of us have access to: Toilet Paper Rolls.  My husband didn’t even look at me too funny when I asked him not to throw out the empty tubes.

Fourth of July Poppers

You will need:

  • Empty TP rolls
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Washi Tape
  • Tissue Paper
  • Candy

Cover TP rolls with scrapbook paper. I grabbed a denim looking paper from my stash. Wrap each end in washi tape. The coordinating tissue paper was also from my stash ( picked up 75% off after Christmas) . Did I mention I’m cheap I mean thrifty?

Fourth of July Treats 1

I picked up a bag of  Lindt chocolates and picked out the appropriate colors and wrapped them in the tissue paper jelly roll style. Slide through your decorated tubes, tie off with baker’s twine and voila!

To complete his “Fourth In A Box” treats, I added a few more goodies because I’ve learned that college kids are the biggest little kids around. They’re in such a hurry to grow up until they do so a little childhood is a welcome distraction!

Fourth of July Goodies

Some fun sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and more candy. Never enough candy. I wrapped the M&M tubes in more scrapbook paper and (not shown) tied with gold rick rack.

This could easily be adapted for party favors for any holiday or theme. Inexpensive, easy, and I hope you think fun! Hope you’ll drop by and visit me at my blog.
