Vintage Bunny Place Cards

Vintage Bunny Place Cards

I like to have friends over to share a meal, but prefer a more casual approach to entertaining.
Decorating a table doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive…
And even a more informal approach can still be pretty.

Vintage Bunny Place Cards

I’m planning a casual brunch over Easter and have put together a simple place card using a vintage graphic, some wooden pegs and pretty scrapbooking paper.
The vintage graphic is from The Graphics Fairy and can be downloaded HERE
I simply inserted the image on a word document, reversing every second bunny.
As the place cards will be seen from various viewpoints around the table, I cut out all the images and adhered a back and front bunny together so the image would be double-sided.

From one sheet of scrapbook paper, I cut the paper to adhere to the front and back of my pegs.
The quickest way to do this is trace around your pegs. Be sure to cut the paper strips in two where the spring wire is, so you can open and close your peg. I lined up my paper strip on the top of the peg and pushed my fingernail into the crevice to put an indent where the opening was. Then I just used scissors to cut the strip across the indent.
Adhere the paper to the pegs using Mod Podge or a white glue.
Glue the bunny heads to the top of the pegs and add a pretty ribbon bow to finish it off.

Using the remaining scrapbook paper, cut out rectangle place cards to write your guests names on.
Be sure to measure the height of your peg from base to top of spring to get the correct height for your place card. If the card is too high, it will prevent the ends of the peg from standing up.
I thought these little peg holders were so fabulous, I made some extra ones to attach to brown paper bags filled with chocolate eggs. The peg not only holds the bag closed, but also allows for a name card to be attached.

I’m using matching scrapbook paper sheets as placemats for my brunch, which gives a nice coordinated look for very little cost.
The vintage bunnies lend themselves to any colour scheme, so this is a very versatile, quick and easy project that you can make your own.
