I Toad You I Love Gardening (Toadstool from an old bowl)

Toadstool

Toadstool

I can’t think of anything more whimsical than a toadstool in the garden….gardening is so enjoyable and using up all junk that might otherwise be thrown away…is just right up my alley, AND…it matches my flowerpot chair PERFECTLY!….like my garden bench from an old headboard.   Any time you relax, and let your imagination…and inhibitions go…you wind up with something that you can enjoy.  Gardening shouldn’t be all serious and stiff.  I think that’s why I love cottage gardens so much…they just let things happen.

I’ve had this stainless steel bowl lying around for quite sometime…I’m not even sure where it came from….but it was beat up…and dented…it probably even had some holes in it.  It sat outside for so long (because I just didn’t have the heart to throw it away)…I was rather scared to used it in the house….but I knew I’d use it somehow.

This toadstool from a bowl…is the perfect project…and I’m not sure I’m not going hunting more bowls so that she can have company.  By painting the bowl…and a spindle…I got the cutest little accessory.

I just took a hammer and beat the worst of the dings out of it…and sanded the outside….for a little tooth.  Always remember when painting anything….the key to success is getting the proper paint…in this case….metal paint and outdoor grade.  The rules:  CLEAN  DULL  DRY!!

Bowl Toadstool

By inverting the bowl…and running a screw through the middle into the spindle…digging a shallow hole for the spindle to stand….I just got the cutest little darling on the block…

These might make wonderful Mother’s Day gifts…my mom LOVES these sweet gifts from the heart.

Very tiny bowls dressed up like toadstools….would be ADORABLE in a fairy garden….don’t you think?  Do you like whimsy?  What projects have you done for your flower gardens? What colors would you make your toadstool?
